Good for you for looking at it this way! We need our working memory to be in the moment and care about the things that actually matter.

Many years ago I did a time management course with Franklin (before the merger with Steven Covey's organization, which muddied the methodology). The three things I got from that (neither of which I've been able to stick with - although my paper Franklin planner lasted longer than any other attempt!) was - 1 Keep all your notes in one place (in the planner, organised by the day you wrote them) and 2 Only have one calendar/schedule (brilliant advice but, for me, at least) almost impossible to follow and - most profound (for me anyway) 3 that the purpose of a calendar (and notes, to a great extent) is not to help you to remember - it's to allow you to forget.
